Our Favorite Undercard Artists of This Festival Season

While the headliners are typically what draw the most of your attention and strongly decide your festi-fate, I encourage you to change pace and tune into some major hitters in undercards this season.  Below are 7 undercard artist we’ve handpicked from various US festivals for you to check out!
1. Tank and The Bangas –

Tank and The Bangas is a everything you dream of when you think of New Orleans flair, but much spicier. They are sensational, animating and vibrant. Anjelika “Jelly” Joseph on vocals, Albert Allenback as the flautist, Josh Johnson on drums, Norman Spence keyboardist and bass as well as keyboardist, Merell Burkett. Together they combine Spoken Word, Soul, R&B, Hip Hop and a live band and they do it all so incredibly organic. Recently, they beat out 6,000 other competitors to win NPR’s Tiny Desk contest causing their fandom to skyrocket.
Fun Fact: Norah Jones is a huge fan and even did a surprise performance with them in their home of the French Quarter.

FESTIVALS: With Bonnaroo and Riverfest already rendered you can catch them out at Grand Point shorty, Hulaween, Austin City Limits, High Sierra and more to surely come.

2. The Lemon Twigs – 

The Lemon Twigs are an American pop/rock band from Long Island, New York, fronted by brothers Brian D’Addario and Michael D’Addario. The brothers are vocalists, songwriters and multi-instrumentalists. They are met by bassist, Megan Zeankowski, and keyboardist/backing vocals, Danny Ayala.

FESTIVALS: They’ve already knocked out Coachella and Bonnaroo this summer but you can catch them at Outside Lands, Lollapalooza, and Austin City Limits.
Fun Fact: they all attended the same high school at rock legend, Billy Joel.
3. Lawrence –

Siblings, Clyde and Gracie Lawrence, who are both in their early twenties, are all over the festival market with soul-pop sound. The New York based band teamed up with Grammy Award-winning producer Eric Krasno (Lettuce/Soulive/Tedeschi Trucks Band), for their twelve-song LP, Breakfast, and brought in several NYC soul/funk artist features. Lawrence is currently signed with Warner Bros. Records.

FESTIVALS: Firefly, Outside Lands, Sloss, Hangout, Okeechobee, Karoodinha, Kaboo, and several others.
4. Flint Eastwood –

Jax Anderson aka Flint Eastwood is a multi genre singer-song writer and her music is as strong as she is captivating. The Detroit love runs through and through with this one. Local Detroit collabs have included songs produced by Griz, Gosh Pith, Syblyng, and featuring Tunde Olaniran. As well she crafts her music in Detroit’s second oldest church, now repurposed as Assemble Sound. She is currently signed to Neon Gold Records

FESTIVALS: starting the season off with Sasquatch and Bonnaroo, but also seizing Electric Forest, Lollapalooza, Summerfest, and Voodoo.
5. Joseph –

Joseph is an American folk band made up of three sisters from Portland, Oregon. Natalie Closner Schepman and Allison and Meegan Closner debuted their first album, Native Dreamer Kin, early 2014 and was self released. They are currently signed to ATO Records.
FESTIVALS: This summer they have already performed at Coachella and Bonnaroo. Coming up for the group is Forecastle, Austin City Limits, Lollapalooza, Outside Lands, Grand Point North and more.
Fun Fact: Meegan and Allison are twins.
6. Jacob Banks –

Jacob Banks is a British singer-songwriter who has been recognized for his artistry quite a bit since 202. He also became the first unsigned act to ever appear on BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge. His music is influenced by a range of genres and in 2016 he signed with Interscope Records.
FESTIVALS: starting with Okeechobee and Firefly, Electric Forest this weekend Lollapalooza next month and Hulaween in the fall.

7. The Ghost of Paul Revere –

The Ghost of Paul Revere is a band from Maine involving members: Griffin Sherry, Max Davis, and Sean McCarthy. They’ve crafted their genre as “holler folk” as their sound is rooted instrumentals and deeply elevated vocals. They are a band that is passionate for creating strong but bare music that is meant to be inherent and live.

FESTIVALS: Summer Camp, Levitate, Peach, DelFest, Mountain Jam, Arise and more!

Fun Fact: The band has collaborated in the development of a rye whiskey, RYE OR DIE, in a whiskey distillery in Tamworth, NH.
